Russian gun sloop
The possible remains of a Russian gun sloop are located in front of the northeast tip of Ämpyri island. This wreck is newer than most of the others in the area: it is likely to have been scuttled during the Crimean War in 1855. This has been concluded, based on a dating sample taken from the wreck. Almost a hundred gun sloops resembling those used during the Battle of Svensksund were built in Russia in 1854. The English navy destroyed the Ruotsinsalmi sea fortress is 1855. The gun sloop may have been scuttled on purpose to prevent it from being used by the English.
