Russian gun dinghy

The visible parts of the wreck at the northwest tip of Lehmäsaari are badly worn down. The collapsed mast lies next to the wreck. The vessel’s four cannons were located in the corners of the bow and stern on carriages. A grapnel anchor, parts of a mast and rigging, a brick oven and other objects have also been detected. Based on its structure, the wreck is possibly a Russian gun dinghy. Ten single-mast gun dinghies were completed at the Volkhov shipyard in St. Petersburg in 1788, of which seven were taken to Lake Saimaa. The fate of the other dinghies is unknown.
