Majasaari wreck

The shipwreck of a large unknown vessel lies at the bottom of the sea on her keel. The wreck of a burnt wooden vessel is located in the middle of a narrow strait between Tiutinen and Majasaari. The bow facing Tiutinen island comes up to a depth of about a meter and a half. The Swedes scuttled the vessel to use it as a blockship on the eve of the First Battle of Svensksund on 23 August 1789. At least four other vessels were scuttled in the narrows between islands to prevent the progress of the Russian navy. Later, the Russians used the same wreck as a blockship to the Redoubt Tiutinen.
