Frigate Maria
Only a relatively well preserved bow remains of this vessel. The wreck is probably the Russian frigate Maria that sank during the Second Battle of Svensksund. Maria was completed at the Kronstadt shipyard in 1790. It was one of the five new Alexander class frigates that took part during the Second Battle of Svensksund. Maria sailed under the command of Captain Denisov. During the battle, Maria was caught in the crossfire of Swedish ships and the crew surrendered. The vessel became rudderless, ran onto rocks and later sank.
