Cargo ship Hofnung II

The wreck of a wooden sailing ship is located about 1.5 kilometres southeast of the Lellerit islands in the waters of Kotka. We have no information on how it sank and we cannot say for certain that the vessel took part in the Battle of Svensksund in 1790. The wreck of the sailing ship is possibly that of Hofnung II that sank in the Ruotsinsalmi sea area in 1797. It was originally a Swedish vessel, but was captured by the Russians in the Russo-Swedish war. Hofnung II operated as a Russian cargo ship until it sank.
